The berries remind me of blueberries. Now that I know what they are, I won't pick them to eat should I ever see them. I wouldn't mind giving the leaves a taste though.

The purple berries make me think of salal berries that we have in our woods. They don't taste very good though. I tried making jam from them last summer but the taste even with lots of sugar wasn't to my liking. - Margy
