T is for Harriet Tubman

 Fort Hill Cemetery
Auburn NY

I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years,
and I can say what most conductors can't say;
I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.
- Harriet Tubman

  2. Interesting as I assumed a driver would be more likely to drive
    the train not the conductor,
    Am I missing something in the message ?

  5. Di - it was not an actual train, but a path to freedom from slavery in the first half or so of the 19th century.

    2. Well! You're never too old to learn, and learn, I have today.
      My knowledge of American history is scant and only what I read about without tutelage.
      What an amazing and brave lady Harriet Tubman was to risk her own life so many times.
      Thank you for sharing this with, most amazing story.
      best wishes,

  6. Born a slave, Harriett Tubman became a famous "conductor" on the Underground Railroad, leading hundreds of slaves to freedom. I read her story and also about John Brown's speech. These people are real heroes. Great and impressive post! Thank you Roger for giving us the link "to the path to freedom from slavery".
